The three Weston men, Joe, Hunter and JT own the Bar LJ Ranch in Spring Ridge Montana. All ruggedly handsome, very wealthy, and claim their own identity in occupations other than the ranch. Joe, the oldest of the three at 37, after an injury ended his chance at an NFL career became a veterinarian. He runs a successful stud-breeding program and treats horses with behavioral issues. He is the majority owner of the Ranch and takes on the responsibility of its day-to-day functions. Hunter, the middle brother at 35, is a veteran of the US Marines and currently the Sheriff of Spring Ridge. Lastly, JT, the youngest at 29, is the Fire Chief for the Spring Ridge Fire Department. Elizabeth Dunlap, Liz, is an accomplished Mystery writer. She has authored three books and is currently trying to write her fourth, but is having a little trouble finding the time or the inspiration to complete the task. Liz is running away from her abusive ex-fianc'e. She said goodbye to her life in Wichita, Kansas and bought a quaint little cottage in the small town of Spring Ridge, Montana. Sheila Douglas is a real estate agent in Spring Ridge and has a past with Joe. She warns Liz.
